Summary 12/17/07
Currently the midwest region is being hit hard with a snow storm, making it difficult for citizens to adjust. A mixture of snow and rain produced slippery roads causing several deaths in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. An airport in Rhode Island was shut down after an airplane slid off the runway, however, nobody was injured. AAA Michigan reported that it helped more than 3,000 motorists on Sunday.

On Monday, Al gore received the Nobel Peace Prize along with Rajendra Pachauri in Oslo, Norway. The prize was awarded as several nations met to discuss the Kyoto accord. Gore recieved this prize because of his awareness on global warming. Gore staed "make the boldest moves, or stand accountable before history for their failure to act." towards the nations of China and the U.S. because they are the biggest carbon emitters. The U.N. scentist shares the honor with Gore because of their awareness on global warming.

Don Imus returned to the radio Monday morning after being fired a couple of months back for his racist comment on the Rutgers' Womens basketball team. Don Imus faced a lot of criticism after his insulting comment and many people spite him because of that. Once again when he returned on his new radio show, apologized for his comment on the Rutgers Women basketball team.

On Sunday night in Villiers-le-bel, a town north of Paris, France occured a massive violent riot after the death of two french teens. The two teens were killed in a motorbike crash with a police patrol car due to the failure of obeying the traffic laws. the riot consisted of eight people injured and 21 police officers injured as well, it alos consisted of the torchings of police stations, local stores and cars. This outrageous moment resembled a similar situation which occured in 2005 where two teens were also killed. The opposition called the violence the result of a social and political crisis.

Summary 11/19/07
A recent study showed that Detroit, Michigan is the most dangerous city in America. The study was done by a private research group whom came to this conclusion due to FBI crime statistics. This group ranked the ten most dangerous cities and also ranked the ten most safest cities. Coming in right after Detroit, is St. Louis, Missouri stated as the second most dangerous city in America. Many experts including the FBI say that the report misuses statistics and gets misleading results. Many critics say the report works against understanding of crime and also hurts the low-ranked cities.
