Summary 12/17/07

Currently the midwest region is being hit hard with a snow storm, making it difficult for citizens to adjust. A mixture of snow and rain produced slippery roads causing several deaths in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. An airport in Rhode Island was shut down after an airplane slid off the runway, however, nobody was injured. AAA Michigan reported that it helped more than 3,000 motorists on Sunday.

Summary 12/10/07

On Monday, Al gore received the Nobel Peace Prize along with Rajendra Pachauri in Oslo, Norway. The prize was awarded as several nations met to discuss the Kyoto accord. Gore recieved this prize because of his awareness on global warming. Gore staed "make the boldest moves, or stand accountable before history for their failure to act." towards the nations of China and the U.S. because they are the biggest carbon emitters. The U.N. scentist shares the honor with Gore because of their awareness on global warming.

Summary 12/3/07

Don Imus returned to the radio Monday morning after being fired a couple of months back for his racist comment on the Rutgers' Womens basketball team. Don Imus faced a lot of criticism after his insulting comment and many people spite him because of that. Once again when he returned on his new radio show, apologized for his comment on the Rutgers Women basketball team.

Summary 11/26/07

On Sunday night in Villiers-le-bel, a town north of Paris, France occured a massive violent riot after the death of two french teens. The two teens were killed in a motorbike crash with a police patrol car due to the failure of obeying the traffic laws. the riot consisted of eight people injured and 21 police officers injured as well, it alos consisted of the torchings of police stations, local stores and cars. This outrageous moment resembled a similar situation which occured in 2005 where two teens were also killed. The opposition called the violence the result of a social and political crisis.

Summary 11/19/07

A recent study showed that Detroit, Michigan is the most dangerous city in America. The study was done by a private research group whom came to this conclusion due to FBI crime statistics. This group ranked the ten most dangerous cities and also ranked the ten most safest cities. Coming in right after Detroit, is St. Louis, Missouri stated as the second most dangerous city in America. Many experts including the FBI say that the report misuses statistics and gets misleading results. Many critics say the report works against understanding of crime and also hurts the low-ranked cities.

Summary 11/12

In Rostov-on-don, Russia various amount of ships sunk causing a large amount of oil to spill on the sea. Rescuers recovered three bodies from one of the sunken Russian ships yet five were still missing. One of the ships called "The Nakhichevan" was broken down by 18-foot waves on the Strait of Kerch, a narrow strait linking the Black Sea and the smaller Sea of Azov. The Nakhichevan was one of the two freighters that broke up into heavy seas. As many as 10 ships sank or ran around in the Strait of Kerch. Fuel oil and sulfur spilled into the sea and is washing up on nearby shores. One of the officials stated: it could be the worst environmental disaster in the region in years, and could take years to clean up.

Question 1

Today I worked with the If...Then...Else Statements and I am having trouble with making it function properly. However I found out that i have to create another project in order to make the codes function correctly.

Summary 10/22

The deputy mayor S.S. Bajwa of the city of New Delhi, India recently died from falling off of a balcony due to the attack of wild monkeys. The mayor was rushed to the hospital but didn't survive due to the severe head injuries the mayor suffered. The gang of monkeys were classified as Rhesus macaques yet it is considered normal for monkeys to wander around in the buildings of New Delhi since there are so many. The Delhi Court continues to argue about the city for not finding a solution to the monkey problems which is occuring since the macaques terrify the residents and are a hazard to them as well. City authorities have been employing monkey catchers to end the problem although the prblem still continues.

Today I worked with If...Then Statements and how to make ceratin messages pop up after typing a certain integer or text. I still have to get adjusted to making the textboxes function properly in the code so that I can get a correct conclusion after typing in the code.

Summary 10/15/07

On Saturday, rapper T.I. was arrested at a local shopping center near his home in the Atlanta suburb of College Park due to possesion of unregistered firearms. It is stated that one of T.I.'s bodyguards was buying these firearms for the rapper although T.I. was not allowed to possess any firearms since he is a convicted felon. Meanwhile T.I. was absent from the BET Awards Show, he recieved two awards. Due to the absence of T.I. the show had to be modified and other performers had to cover for T.I. Although the rapper wasn't present at the awards show many of the artists were showing support for T.I. by sending shoutouts to him.

Question 6

I workd with equations towards energy problems and figured out the formulas. I also worked with equations towards the cost of pizza and I'll keep working with equations on Visual Basic to adjust to the use of the challenging formuolas used in visual Basic

Summary 10/8/07

Six people were shot and killed Monday morning in the small town of Crandon, Wisconsin. One other person was injured from the shooting. An off-duty deputy barged into the house and opened fire on the 7 people who were in the house. Supposedly police were really searching for a shooter who was among the 6 in the house and was shot and killed as well. The dead included 3 students at Crandon High School and 3 other recent graduates from the same High School as the other 3. One of the dead included a 14 year old girl which made the mother furious and upset about the incident and was left traumatized about the situation.

Question 1

One of my problems today was determining how to use the function for Fahrenheit and Celsius conversion. I overcame the problem by putting in different numbers to the equation that was given. Finally I was able to find the proper way of putting in the code and the equation as well.

Question 6

I was working on the questions for chapter 4 and I have learned how to work with textboxes and the code used to make the from function properly. I will continue working on the problems to be able to turn in.

Summary 10/1/2007

The NATO ships rescued two bodies off the coast of the island in the Red Sea on Monday morning. The volcano that errupted in the island of Yemen had a huge effect on the island leaving alot of the people stranded at sea. There were many people that were rescued from various ships roaming about the area.

Today i learned how to work with variables and strings on Visual Studio. I learned how to work with equations and what code I needed to put in order for the function to work.

Summary 9/24/07

On Monday 100,000 anti-government protesters protested against the governments actions. The protest was lead by Buddhist monks and the protesters were all over the streets of Yangon. There were a lot of law enforcement officials in order to contain the protesters. The march covered at least 5 miles in the first few hours. There hasn't been a huge march like this in Myanmar since 1988.

Question 6

Today I completed 7 of the 10 exercises. I have learned how to work with labels and buttons and feel comfortable with working with them. I plan to finish the remaining 3 exercises and then begin on the Smiley project.

O.J. Simpson Arrested

O.J. Simpson was arrested again after commiting and assault robbery in a hotel room. Simpson came along with two other men and was reported that he was attempting to retrieve his sports memorabilias which he says belonged to him. One of the men that were in the room who were getting robbed stated that Simpson came in acting as if it were a home-invasion type robbery. Simpson is 60 years old and is currently in a Las Vegas jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday September 20, 2007.

Today I completed a couple of exercises and I learned how to use a Groupbox on Visual Studio. I learned how to use the radiobuttons and how to put messages linked to them. I will try to complete the remaining exercises and try to feel more comfortable with using Microsoft Visual Studio and learn how to use the different stuff that is on there

Summary

Kate and Gerry McCann who are originally from England, were on vacation with their kids in Portugal. During their vacation, Kate and Gerry decided to go out to eat dinner and left their kids in the room sleeping. The McCann's have twin boys and one daughter, the parents werent very far away from the room and were checking back frequently to see if the kids were doing alright, however when they checked back they found that their daughter was missing. Their daughter Madeleine disappeared back in May and haven't been able to find her since. The Portugese police have named Kate and Gerry McCann as suspects because of the lack of evidence. Kate and Gerry are required to consistently come back to Portugal to undergo questioning. With the case still going on for 5 months the case will go on to the prosecutor until the girl is found.

Question 2

I faced creating a message through the click of a button. I had to drag the label button first in order to let the message appear. I had to put in a code "Me.lblMessage.text="hello there!"

Question 3

I was doing well in the beginning when we were testing the buttons and their codes and how to make them work proper. I got confused with one of the buttons when I tried to put up a code and I couldnt get "lblmessage" to come up in the scroll down window and after that I was lost and it was difficult for me to use the program.

Question 1

One problem that I encountered while developing my solution was that when I added the web browser button on my form, it wasn't able to work and couldn't debug. I will try to continue working on the Microsoft Visual Studio program so I can become more comfortable with the program and that I won't have any problems working on this program in the future

Question 6

The progress I made todaty is that I learned how to work with forms in Microsoft Visual Studio and I learned a couple of new things with the objects from the toolbox and I learned hw to change the font, font color, and background color. I will work on different stuff witht the other buttons that are in the toolbox so I can have a better understanding of the Microsoft Visual Studio Program.
